How to Save Spotlight Videos to Your Camera Roll
No third-party app, no screen recording, no watermark. Here’s the clean way to keep a Spotlight clip on iPhone and Android.
Short version: copy the Spotlight link, paste it into Snaptube’s Spotlight downloader, download the MP4, and save it to your camera roll. The whole thing takes about a minute. The rest of this guide covers the small differences between iPhone and Android, and why the obvious method — screen recording — is the one to avoid.
Why screen recording is the wrong tool
A lot of users try screen recording before they learn how to save Snapchat Spotlight videos properly. It works, but the results are rarely great.
- Your status bar, battery icon and notifications can appear in the recording.
- Accidental taps often end up in the final video.
- The video quality usually drops after recording.
- You'll need to trim the beginning and end manually.
When you copy a Snapchat Spotlight link and download the original file instead, you get a cleaner result. No crop, no edit and no unnecessary elements. Just the original MP4 ready to save to your device.
Step by step: save a Spotlight video
- Open the Spotlight videoFind the clip you want in the Spotlight feed, or open a link someone shared with you.
- Copy the linkTap the share arrow (the paper-plane icon) and choose “Copy Link”. If you’re watching on web.snapchat.com, just copy the URL from the address bar.
- Paste it into SnaptubeOpen the Spotlight downloader and paste the link into the box. On a phone, tap “Paste” so you don’t have to fiddle with the keyboard.
- Pick a quality and downloadChoose HD if it’s offered, then tap Download. The MP4 saves to your device.

On iPhone: getting it into Photos
iOS doesn’t always drop a downloaded video straight into your camera roll — it depends on your browser. Here’s the reliable path in Safari:
- Tap Download, then “Download” againSafari saves the file to the Downloads folder and shows a small arrow at the top right.
- Open the Files appGo to On My iPhone → Downloads and tap the video.
- Tap Share → Save VideoThat copies it into Photos, where it shows up in your camera roll like any other clip.
If you use Chrome on iPhone, the steps are the same — the download lands in Files, and you save it across to Photos from there.
On Android: it’s usually automatic
After you copy the Snapchat video link and download the file through Snaptube.is, Android usually handles the rest. The video is saved to your Downloads folder and often appears in your Gallery automatically.
A note on what you can and can’t save
Public content, such as Snapchat Spotlight videos, can be downloaded using their share links for personal use. Private Snaps and friends-only Stories don't have public URLs, so they can't be accessed through a downloader. If you're wondering about copyright, personal use, or sharing downloaded videos, see our guide on whether whether downloading Snapchat videos is legal .
Frequently asked questions
Will the saved video have a watermark?
No. Snaptube.is saves the original file as it was posted — no logo or branding is added.
Do I need a Snapchat account to do this?
No. You only need the public link to the Spotlight video. There’s no login on either side.
Can I save just the audio instead?
Yes — run the same link through the Snapchat to MP3 converter to pull only the sound.
